Bro Jo used to make quite a few “this date in history” posts and I kinda miss them. All y’all might be missing the random trivia as well, so I thought I’d help him out, since he’s been all wrapped up with a different kind of date recently.
February 22, 1980: In one of the most dramatic upsets in Olympic history, the underdog U.S. hockey team performed a miracle on ice and defeated the 4 time gold-medal winning Soviet Hockey team. Not only did those college hockey kids win Olympic Gold, but also they won the Cold War! Way to go, boys! Personally, I think the reason everyone expected the U.S. team to lose was because Kurt Russell was their coach. Who could take that seriously?
February 22, 1864: Col. Nathan Bedford Forrest (yes, the guy Forrest Gump was named after) beat a Yankee force 3 times the size of his army at the Battle of West Point, Mississippi and halted General Sherman’s march to the sea. Go Rebels! I hope the camp cook served up buttered noodles for the victory meal. All’s fair in love and war, you know.
February 22, 1975: Actress Drew Barrymore was born. After trying out about every hair color under the sun, she made the wise choice to go ginger in 2011. You look fabulous, Drew darling.
February 22, 1990: Milli Vanilli won a Grammy for Best New Artist. This is the only Grammy that has ever been taken back after it was awarded, but probably not the only music group that has been totally without talent. Fake it ’til you get found out?
February 22, 1777: Revolutionary War leader and Georgia‘s first Provisional Governor Archibald Bulloch dies under mysterious circumstances just hours after Georgia’s Council of Safety grants him the powers of a dictator in expectation of a British invasion. Let this be a lesson to you, boys and girls. If you manage to get the congress to grant you supreme power, get a food tester, pronto.
February 22, 2000: A gang in Great Britain robs a bank and makes off with the biggest pile of loot in British history: $53 million pounds. No one has been caught as of yet. Were any hearts stolen last weekend? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
All, in all, I’d say February 22 has been a pretty good day for just about everyone, as long as their name isn’t Archibald. (Anyone named Archibald might not have very many good days though, just sayin’) I hope it’s been a good day for you.

Reblogged this on Marvelous Pigs in Satin and commented:
Sometimes I post on other people’s blogs because I can.
Feb 22, 2013: Twindaddy visited BroJo’s blog. And it made his day.
Thank you Twin Daddy…the same happens for me quite often.
Wow, they stole that much money and got away with it? They need to teach a class or something.
That sounds like it’s too heavy to carry around.
This is the second mention I’ve heard today of Milli Vanilli. I blame it on the rain.
I’ll be here all week, folks.
Girl, you know it’s true.
I learn something new every day. Today I learned that you are both cruel for interrupting the date story. The suspense is killing me.
Also that Forest Gump wasn’t named after a forest.
The suspense is going to have to kill you for a little while longer. Hope you don’t mind.
I still enjoy Milli Vanilli. Why did everyone decide they didn’t like the music anymore. Were they THAT enamored of Fab and Rob?
People are crazy sometimes. They’ll turn on a dime if you let them. It was alright music.
